Quite solid California Cab here, and for fifteen bucks. In terms of physical weight, it hovers just below full-bodied, which is a good slot at this price point, as it could pair as well with a rotisseries chicken as a burger. Notable time in bottle has provided more complexity than one might expect at this price, with dark cherry and blackberry fruit joined by some pleasant aromas of dried herbs. Honest wine at an attractive price, and organic to boot. 90 Points, 2021 Vintage

REALLY satisfying, consistently excellent Cabernet.
I love this wine so much I’ve bought several cases of it over the years. It continues to satisfy. I love that this wine is made from organic grapes from a vineyard with environmental commitments. But I wouldn’t buy it if it didn’t taste GREAT.

I was really worried when the box came because all the wine was HOT. And i mean HOT. Was almost sure id have to get a refund but they all turned out ok. Crazy haha

Toast to Good Health
Bonterra Cabernet has a complex robust flavor of dark berries overflowing with a burst of tannins that tickle the tastebuds. This is my favorite wine to pair with pasta and grilled steaks! Always a delight to enjoy an organic burst of flavor!

My Everyday Glass Of Wine
I have always preferred Cabernet Sauvignon. A few years ago I began trying to drink organic wine. It took some searching to land on Bonterra. The sulfates don't bother me even though I'm allergic to sulphur. It's the pesticides and fungicides that I'd rather avoid. I like the wine enough to stop any further search.

too much sulfites?
I have purchased it for years by the case; however, I was a little ill on the last purchase and questioned the amount of Sulfites in this batch. My italian dad used Benzoate of Soda as a preservative and it bothered no one. Let me know what is different. Joe Battista, PhD thanks, Dave

What is the difference between “Organic Wine” and wine “Made With Organic Grapes”?

The grapes we grow that go into wines we label as “made with organic grapes” are held to the same standards as grapes used to make “organic wines”. The only difference between the two categories is a decision to add a small amount of sulfur at the final stage of wine fermentation. Sulfur is a naturally occurring compound used to end fermentation, this ensures the wine does not continue to ferment after it is bottled.

Our Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignon wine is “made with organic grapes”, which means that USDA regulations allow us to use a small amount of sulfur to stabilize the wine just before it is bottled, ensuring a consistent, high-quality product every time. The sulfur we choose to add to our wines regularly falls below the regulated amount.

Regulations for “organic wine” do not permit use of any added sulfur. Because organic wine has no added sulfur/sulfites, it is often less consistent in taste and flavor and it ages poorly.

Are there sulfites in Bonterra Cabernet?

Our winemakers have made the decision to use a limited amount of sulfites in our wines to ensure that the wine you open is the same quality as it was when we bottled it, so we label our wines as ‘made with organic grapes.’

The USDA’s “made with organic grapes” certification allows a maximum of 100ppm of sulfites in wines made with organic grapes – that’s less than 1/3 of the amount of sulfites conventional wines are allowed. The average total sulfites for Bonterra wines are between 70 to 90ppm.

The “organic wine” regulations do not permit use of any added sulfur. Because organic wine has no added sulfur/sulfites, it is often less consistent in taste and flavor and it ages poorly.

We recommend that you contact your physician regarding specific health concerns.

Do organic wines contain sulfur?

Yes, virtually every wine contains sulfur, including organic wines. Sulfur occurs naturally during winemaking as a by-product of fermentation.

Does Bonterra Cabernet Sauvignong wine contain Glyphosate?

We actively avoid glyphosate. It is not used in our estate vineyards, nor in partner vineyards we source from.
