Clean Energy, Clean Air

Producing and using electricity more efficiently reduces both the amount of fuel needed to generate electricity and the amount of greenhouse gases and other air pollution emitted as a result. Electricity from renewable resources such as solar, geothermal, and wind generally does not contribute to climate change or local air pollution, since fuels are not combusted along the way. In a word: green power is simply cleaner, and less polluting to the air.

With this knowledge, our organic-certified winery operates on 100% renewable, clean energy powered by our on-site solar array and off-site renewables, including wind power. Using only clean energy to make our wines is a great starting point, but we didn’t stop there.

According to the UN’s Food and Agriculture Organization, organic farming reduces air pollution by prohibiting the use of harmful synthetic farm additives (conventional farming, by contrast, relies on chemicals often produced in fossil fuel-burning facilities). We farm our organic vineyards regeneratively, helping to remove excess atmospheric carbon from the air.

In 2021, we went further, becoming the first nationally available Climate Neutral® Certified wines, taking responsibility for our unavoidable emissions and publishing our carbon footprint for everyone to see. In doing so, we made our business climate neutral, then did more, choosing to offset more emissions than we produce, from grape to shelf.

We know the world urgently needs brands to take responsibility for our impact and help regenerate the earth—and certifications like Climate Neutral and the accountability they bring are a great start.

Looking ahead, the carbon offsets we purchase help make the world a more climate-resilient place through reforestation, and we’re looking at opportunities to reduce downstream emissions during product end-of-life, while increasing carbon drawdown through enhanced regenerative agriculture programs on our farms.
