California Certified Organic Farmers
Organic farming is the very heart of Bonterra. As America’s #1 organic winery, we’ve long championed organic farming practices in the wine industry and beyond.
Why we choose to farm organically
We started farming organically in 1987. And we feel the same today as we did back then: farming is a two-way relationship with the land.
Organic farming sequesters carbon, keeps water clean, and reduces our exposure to toxic pesticides. Every time you choose organically farmed wine, you are choosing to leave synthetic pesticides and Genetically Modified Organisms (GMOs) out of your glass.
About our organic certification
“Organic” is the most highly regulated food label in the U.S. Organic farming standards require our farms to be free of prohibited fertilizers, pesticides, and herbicides. We are also required to improve natural resources such as soil and water, animal and worker welfare, safe product handling, and more. We verify our organic claims through a third-party certification, California Certified Organic Farmers (CCOF).
Support a healthy planet
Your purchases have power. By choosing organically farmed wine, you support biodiversity, environmental stewardship, and healthier ecosystems and communities.
Leading with Purpose
